Ken Robinson "Schools kill creativity"

Received this link in my email.. a very motivating and inspiring speech by Ken Robinson
About how the education system is built and how universal it is wherever you go. What intelligence is? The many facets of intelligence, how dynamic and fluid it is. And how academic pursuit leads a child to be shaped to be a "mind". His jokes are really humorous too. For instance, about how we attend meetings with a head but not a body.. traveling to a meeting with just a head.. how are we present in the meeting if our body didn't bring us there?
This brings to mind how technology is widespread in e-education today.
He emphasizes that intelligence is interactive. Hence, technology does have to pay attention to an interactive education and not lose its creativity and appeal and engagement. Youtube videos? tutorials that on one hand can provide a lot of practical information yet the practicality of it is very much one way.. downloading or how about newsworthy issues concerning our social affairs?
STOMP! ;p
The internet brings about a wealth of information. How creative is this information? His story about Gillian Lynne.. you might associate her with CATS.. It really reminds us of recognizing people for their talents. He talked about how Arts is given so little credit in the education system, where mathematics, and academia prevails. Gillian's story reminds us that it really takes one to believe in nurturing the child for who she is and her gift rather than restricting our children into the "societal hats" that drives industries and economies purely and the societal norms that may exclude.
Because by grooming her talent, she is now the person she is today, intelligent in so many ways. He highlights about the revolution of the society and how education may not be equipped to cater to the future of our children's world by the time they graduate.
How dynamic the world is shifting and yet our children are the future and we can only prepare them for their future despite us not being around. How then do we "map" this road prep? He delves into the main ideas regarding his contention about education "stomping" creativity. And his jokes are really engaging. Really worth listening to his speech. Far more interesting than I have given credit to here.
