Reading is a good activity to cultivate in your child while they are young. But, oh boy!, can they be hard to manage. How do we keep inquisitive active kids' attention and concentration? How do we sustain their interest until we finish reading one book?

It's good that your child is inquisitive and have lots of questions to ask but that can be quite disruptive and they seem to lose interest easily. How then do we keep their focus?

Maybe trying the token reward system can aid cultivating interest in reading. Telling your child that if s/he can give 5 minutes in time to reading for one session, s/he will be rewarded with something s/he likes - maybe a sticker, or a coloring book and time to color a picture or time to play with a lego set. Then slowly extend the session time and change rewards when needed to ensure that the child looks forward to that as a reward and the present reward is not exhausted but novel.

Hope you enjoy reading with your child, Happy reading!
